This is my first post as I have joined VTR a few days ago.  Have 73 Tr6 which has sat for 12 months.  Not my choice oversees during this time, had no one to start and run during this time.

Upon return, check fluids etc, started and proceeded to warm up.  While this was occuring carb displays popping noise, spitting gas through one stromberg. Noise is loud through rpms.    Fear this is a stuck valve etc.  Any thoughts on how to diagnose and proceed before tearing through cylinder head.

I would certainly start by checking compression, and trying to adjust the valves.  Also do a visual on the valve springs, for broken, bent, etc.

I have finally found time to look at.  Check compression, did a leak down test no issues.  Found problem to be a push rod which had come unseated.  I reseated and checked valve lash, set for .010 and restarted.  Ran fine but as I started to work car thru gears another push rod came undone.

Do not know how to proceed.

Any ideas.

Sounds like maybe the valves are a bit sticky.  I would probably try putting back that pushrod as well, and giving them all a shot of your favorite penetrating oil (PB Blaster and Kroil are mine), in hopes they will free up after the engine has been run a bit.  New oil wouldn't hurt either, if you haven't already changed it.

But if it keeps happening, you'll probably have to pull the head to find out why.
