62 TR4 stock exhaust system

 I'm having nothing but difficulty installing an exhaust system on my 62 TR4!  All new parts from exhaust manifold to exhaust tip, supplied  through  Moss.  Try as I may I'm have clearance and interferance problems resulting in vibration between frame and muffler.
Also find  it impossible to secure the front muffler clamp to the bracket located on the right gear box mount bolt. 
 Is the stock exhaust system on the early TR4 known to be problematic or is just me? I posted on another site and got zero response. Hope someone here has some words of wisdome.

Hopefully someone will respond more coherently soon. I have done this job in the past. However, when I say "in the past" I mean about 1973, when I removed an almost-new stock system from my TR3A in favor of a Stebro system. I then offered to install the almost-new stock system (OEM Harmo, as I recall) on a buddy's TR4, and it all went very well. I have no experience with modern replacement exhausts on these cars, so I've no idea how dimensions of current new systems compare to OE pieces.

I had a fair amount of trouble installing a Moss system on my TR3A as well (although that was a long time ago).  Wound up having to have a buddy make up an extra piece to fit between the two mufflers as well as several other minor modifications.  Even then, I couldn't use the original hangars, as it just wasn't in the right place.

Since then, I just take the whole problem to a local muffler shop.  He can build a custom system for not much more than the parts would cost me (with shipping); and best of all, I don't have to fight with it!  ISTR the bill for the TR3 was about $150 and it only took him an hour.  That got me two aluminized seamless glasspacks (much better quality than stock, IMO) and the mounts & pipes to hook it all up. 

Best of all, the sound is exactly what I asked for.  Nice mellow rumble, loud enough to sound like sports car but not objectionable (nor does it set off car alarms).  And _none_ of the tinny rattle one hears from so many aftermarket systems.
