I am looking for information on what type of TRIUMPH radio would have most likely come brand new with a 1967 Triumph TR4a.  I am pretty sure this is before the British Leyland years...they didn't come out until 1968 (I think).  I would like to know the model number?  I would appreciate any help so that I can put some of the finishing touches on my newly restored TR4A.

The following Bendix website lists 2 radios for 1967 Triumphs.

http://www.bendixradiofoundation.com/documents/AutoRadio_IllusList.pdf

7BTRX is described as AM, PB, 6 transistors.

7FBTRX is described as AM/FM, PB

Another foreign website also lists the 7FBTRX:  http://www.nicolamarras.it/tr4/radio/radio.html

Previous year Bendix radios have the TRIUMPH logo, but I do not see the logo in the photos of the 1967 radio.

They come up on ebay several times a year in various states of repair/disrepair.

Thank you for the information...great stuff.  I took a look at my Heritage Certificate and it indicates my car was actually built in August of 1966.  Title indicates it as a 1967, but more than likely this is due to the fact that it was purchased in 1967 and titled accordingly.

With all this in mind...if one exists, I would like to purchase a 1966 British Leyland radio that is either NEW OLD STOCK or RESTORED. Please view below information and attached photo

S/N -                  6BTR
Bendix Model -         6BTR
User Model -           V-350

Thank you!

It's worth noting, perhaps, that Triumphs for overseas delivery normally did not have radios installed by the factory.  Too much chance of damage or theft during shipping.  Instead, the dealer would have installed the radio.  As a result, there was not a lot of consistency in which radio was installed, how and where it was installed, etc.

Lots of places restore old car radios.  Try Google to see if there is one in your area.
