Gentlemen:
My 62 TR4 came with a tanneau cover that appears to be original equipment.
Mid way down the length of the zipper there is a strap that is about an inch wide and three feet long. This strap is rivited to the cover right next to the zipper and has a press the dot fastener on the free end. When the cover is installed with the passinger side covered and driver's side open this strap is hanging down aft of the shift lever about even with the driver's shoulder. Can't for the world figure out what it's for! It appears to be original to the cover and not some add on by a previous owner. Any ideas anyone? Thanks KSD

There should be a "stud" low on the tunnel side of the passenger seat. The strap snaps there to help tame the tonneau cover at speed.
