I am trying to order a dash pad top and also the lower ones on the LH and RH sides,  after looking at 4 suppliers I am mixed up. Some only show it for a 65-67, others show it for 63-67.  I have a 64 and the RH lower has a handle built in, none of the pictures I am seeing show it.  Were the top and lower pads different from the tr4 to tr4A.

The Triumph Spare Parts Catalogue from Triumph Motors shows that all of the Tr4's had the same lower and top dash covers throughout the production.  I do not have the Spare Parts Catalogue for the TR4A's, but the Roadster Factory and Moss Motors both show them as being the same for the TR4 and TR4A.
What companies are you seeing the differences with?

I'm not sure how accurate the graphics are, but of the big 3 (Moss, Victoria British, and The Roadster Factory) only Moss shows the built in handle in the right lower crash pad graphic in their catalog.

TRF lists the same part numbers for TR4s and 4As, but he graphic does not show the built in handle for the right side. VB only lists part numbers for 4As and nothing for TR4s, and it does not show a built in handle for the right side either.

Moss does not list separate part numbers for TR4s vs 4As, but they do list  Reproduction and replacement versions of each.  I would assume the Repros are closer to original.  Anyone buy these lately.

Best thing to do if you want the handle in the right pad is to call for verification.

Thanks Bob, you answered my question perfectly.  You can see where I was getting mixed up.  I will just call on this one. Thanks

I got mine from Roadster Factory.  It does have the handle.

When I got my 62 TR4 in 2008 it came with a trunk load of Roadster Factory parts.  I am doing a ground up restoration and periodically check to see what I have.

Included in the stash is a new set of lower crash pads from TRF, which are still in the original bags.  I just when and took a look at them and as Charley said the right side has the grip handle.

Interesting, since The Roadster Factory TR4/TR4A catalog graphic does not show the grip handle.

The Standard-Triumph Spare Parts Catalogs list the following part numbers for these crash pads. For the TR4 they are: 902309(top), 805758(lower passenger's side) and 804911(lower driver's side). For the TR4A they are: 904115(top), 808733(lower passenger's side) and 808729(lower driver's side). Both of these models have the grab handle on the passenger's side. I don't have any TR4A pads to compare, but judging by the illustrations in the Spare Parts Catalogs, the TR4A pads appear to be different in the way they wrap around the dashboard. I'm assuming this could be meant to hide the edges of the rather thick wood dashboard used on the 4A.

The confusing illustrations in various catalogs of the lower pads without grab handles are probably from the TR250-TR6 range of vehicles, which did not have grab handles.
