After installing new sleeves, pistons, rings and a rebuilt head I neglected to take into consideration the fact that about .050 has been shaved from the head and reassembled using a stock head gasket! I'm now getting compression readings in excess of 190#
I've removed the head and believe my only fix now to be the installation of a thicker head gasket. I've calculated my compression ratio to be about 9.5 to 1. Stock  is 9 to 1.
I've searched the world over including the TR shop manual and cannot find a spec. for normal compression numbers on a healthy stock 2138cc. TR4 engine.
I guess my question is what kind of numbers do you guys see on on your healthy stock TR4s when you check compression? Also, anyone have any experience with the after market thicker solid copper head gaskets?  Thanks: KSD

My recollection is in the 145 to 150 range.  But the engine was not new.
