Can a TR6 driveshaft be removed from rear, after dropping the transaxle out of way? (without removing the tail pipe)

I had my driveshaft (refered to as a propeller shaft in my Haynes book) U-joints replaced.  My mechanic had to to remove the rear Diff to remove the driveshaft.

Thanks, that is good news for me.  I didn't want to pull out the transmission tunnel, seats etc and my exhaust is all welded and I didn't want to cut and remove it either.  Dropping the diff seemed to be the easier way, but none of the manuals mentioned that alternative. I plan on trying it.

Oh, I forgot to mention:  He had to tear out the interior and remove the driveshaft and gearbox cover to get access to the front drive shaft assembly bolts.  When he removed the rear diff he noticed the seals were leaking as a result of so much crud on the top blocking the relief valve.  I have a stock exhaust, although it has been fixed many times by welding.  He replaced the rear sections as they were shot.  Not sure if he would have had to remove the exhaust anyway.  He replaced all 6 u-joints.  They were in pretty bad shape.
