Hi Dale, thanks for registering. Yep, it's a new forum alright. When you posted, about 16 hours old! It will probably take a bit of time, but hopefully the word will get out that it's open to everyone in the Triumph community.  Cheesy

I suppose it is not good form to reply to a reply of my own post, but I wanted to see if my signature would show up and to say Hello again and wish us all well in this endeavor.

Hey Bruce,
Do you have any clue where I can find a speedo cable for my 81 TR7.  I need the one from the counter to the speedo. I believe it is special to he 81 because of the hook up to the speedo is one of those clip on types. I am going to say they no longer exsist at any of the regular sources if they ever exsisted. I have one from a MG that is just a bit too long but the big problem is the outer cable is black instead of gray as original and you know how I hate that.
Thanks,
Darrell

Have a TR 4A now had an 80 TR 7 drop head convertible fuel injected 5 speed. Nice car ran good but I sold it because I never fely it was a real Triumph. Really good car though but so much bad vibes about TR 7's

As the sports car world (or maybe just the people that comprise it) ages and spreads, they are coming to appreciate the qualities of the wedge cars. Things like a wider cockpit, comforatble seats, a heating and air conditioning system that works, a weathertight top, great handling (best of any TR right ot of the box).

I have a friend with a beautiful TR4 and a somewhat tatty TR7 Spider. One car has to go and he's having a hard time deciding which one it will be. We talked about it while were were test driving his Spider after carb work. I played Devil's advocate, going over how much more the TR4 was worth, how it did well at shows, etc, etc.  All he could say was "But this car is so much more comfortable to drive..."

On the other hand, I went to a show a few weeks ago with a friend in his TR6. It was like spending 2 hours sitting on a camp toilet with my legs bound in a strait jacket.

Fact: More wedge cars (114,000 of them) were built and sold than any previous TR.

Hey amen StagHunter! I have three Wedges as well as a full range of Hairy Chested TR's, Spits and even a GT6.  I am getting old or something and the Wedges are my ride of choice if I am going a long way.  Well, the 76 VE Fixed Head Coupe is under powered but the 80 TR8 & 81 TR7 FI both Drop Heads are great rides.  I believe the TR7's got a bad name from the first ones out of the block like the 76 with the 4 gear spitfire transmissions.  They are pigs off the line and very whinny at speed.  I only hold on to the VE since it is so Ugly with the Spoker Rims, Special Striping kit and vinyl top. OK, I affectionatly refer to her as Ugly.   Grin
Cheers,
Darrell
