I removed the material that the door seal is fastened to on the b-post in order to weld in a small patch along the bottom of the dogleg. This material goes into a groove on the b-post and is held in by tabs cut into the sheet metal. At first I thought it was wood but it appears to be some other fiber. Anyone know what this is? This question is for curiosity only since the thing came out intact and I intend to put it right back in. Thanks. Tom Mulligan

As you know the function is a nailing strip.  Best I could come up with when I investigated it was that it was  heavy paper that was then twisted and formed into the piece that fits into the slot.  I did like you did, investigated it and put it back in.  Seems to have held up well for what I believe it is--paper.

Thanks Charley. It does look like papaer if you peel it apart it but it holds the fastenings very well and doesn't seem to rot even after all the years. I'm glad I don't have to find a replacement for it. Tom Mulligan
