I put new rear springs on my TR4A non-IRS a couple years ago and the back end sat about an inch too high. I thought it would settle down but it hasn't. Has anyone lowered the rear of their car?

I haven't tried it on a TR4A, but I don't see why adding a spacer between the axle and the original spacer wouldn't work.  Aftermarket spacers are normally sold to raise the ride height (as most trucks have the springs go over the axle instead of under), but should be readily available (along with the longer U-bolts that you will probably need).

Another thought might be finding a "spring shop" that can de-arch your springs for you.  Should still be some around, although they mostly only work on truck springs.
