I'm looking to improve the ride on my '64 TR4, which is my daily driver, and was considering the "TR4 Tube Shock Conversion" (http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=71914).  They claim that this is "the best way to improve your TR4's ride."

Does anyone have experience with this upgrade?  Is it worth doing?  What should I consider before doing it?

Marketing hype in my opinion.  There is nothing inherently wrong with the performance of lever shocks; they are just rather expensive to build.

Assuming you are looking for a less harsh ride, the main thing would be to reduce the friction in the spring leaves.  Just disassembling them to clean and grease will help a lot; putting something like Teflon or UHMW PE between the leaves will help even more.  There is even a company somewhere (sorry, don't have the link handy) that is offering single-leaf replacements.

Modern tires will help, too.  Of course, you need to make sure everything is in good condition, no worn out bushings, loose shocks, etc.  It's amazing how the little things creep up over time.

I am running with a set of tube shocks on a TR4 (not TR4A).  I sourced them from a Johnny Horton in Phoenix.  They work fine, but do they really improve anything?  I am not to sure.  I hardly drove the car before I had to do a major rebuild that included these shocks.  So I don't really have a basis of comparison of before and after.  I do like them but have also chosen not to go that route on the TR4 that I am presently working on. Oh yes I also put in a new set of springs at the same time.  I can tell you that the ride is great and the cornering is superb but then I also have some wider tires than stock.

I also noticed that RATCO has a shock absorber installation upgrade kit:
