I recently have had my 1975 TR6 engine on 2 occasions just stop while driving. I was able to get to the shoulder and it felt as if I had run out of gas. but I had plenty of fuel. I tried to restart, with the engine turning over, but not starting. After 30 minutes I got some starter fluid and sprayed into the air intake. After a few attempts it started. This has happened twice and the only thing I did this past winter, while storing the car, was adding fuel stabliizer. I'm suspecting that's the problem.
I'm not a great mechanic, but can do some things, and since I've been unemployed for the last 7 months a garage bill isn't an option.
Any comments or help?

Could be a classic case of a dying ignition coil?

I had something similar happen with my '74 TR6. After running great for 20-30 minutes, it would die suddenly, especially going uphill. I suspect that the needle in the carb was sticking due to fuel residue from sitting for a long time. Someone suggested a fuel additive called "Seafoam". I put it in the tank and the car hasn't stalled since. It may be a coincidence, but my TR has been running like a clock since then. By the way, this is not an ad for seafoam. Good luck.
