I'm taking my son on our first road trip in our 74 TR6. It's not long, just a few hours each way, but I wanted to see what people take along when they go away. How many take along spare parts? Tools? Duct tape? Flare guns?
We're going to the show in Woodland, CA May 17. Should be fun.

I am sure that we all have heard some horror story about this or that failing on these cars.  But it seems like the only thing that most need is a replacement fan belt, and a set of tools.  I guess that I have had a number of things go wrong. The worst was a blown head gasket and you cannot really do anything about that one on the side of the road.  I have driven my cars from Redding to British Columbia to Laughlin,Nev. without any real problems.  One time I had a coil wire break off.  The car doesn't run much without that little wire.  Fortunately I saw it right away.  A pair of pliers and I was on my way.

That all said I do carry extra hoses, a spare coil, water pump,  points and condensor, fan belt and tool set.  As there are several of us TR owners together I make these parts available to others if needed.  So what has been needed in the past?  The tools!  My friends usually only carry the tools.

Hope to see you at Woodland!!  I'll be bringing my TR4.
