Anyone have any experience with these new production tanks?? I assume they are new production because they don't use the TR p/n.

I just ordered one from Victoria British. The standpipe in my old one rusted off and my filter was clogging with trash. I made a new standpipe from Al aircraft tubing which seems to work ok but in the process of cleaning the tank before re-installation I managed to damage the gage sender.

I finally said to hell with it and ordered the new tank kit which includes a new sender. I figured the tank interior was so rusted it wasn't worth re-installing again so decided to replace the whole works.

As far as I can tell VB is the only source for new tanks now. I looked a couple of years ago and found a couple of others but their prices were almost double AB's.

Part Two of my question is, which parts sources are the best? Moss seems to have the best selection but their prices are pretty high. I haven't gotten anything from The Roadster Factory for a while but their prices are pretty high also except during their off season sales.

Are there any other good sources other than these?

I like Roadster Factory for most things.  Their quality is usually the best out there.  If you sign up to get their emails you can get some really great discounts on a continuing basis.  The only thing that I find bad about Roadster Factory is their catalogues don't identify the parts very well.  Moss is the best for catalogues and BV catalogue is good but does not have a lot of parts and the quality is greatly suspect.  I suspect if you inquired about fuel tanks at RF and Moss you might find one.  But then again the price is likely to be higher than VB.  But is the quality the same??

The tank from VB has arrived and is installed. The only problem is that it is about 3/8" too wide so I had to bend back the center mounting brackets on the TR. It wasn't much but I hated to do it. I'm going to complain to VB and try to get them to reduce the width.

The quality of the tank appears to be very high but only time will tell. It has a bunch of fittings I can't use which I plugged. It also has the overflow fitting in a different location but that was easy to modify.

I also bought some letter and badge retainers which were a complete bust. They are not the correct "blind" type, they are just normal aircraft type spring nuts which I have a drawer full of. Not only that, but they are too large for the letter studs!! So, totally useless.

I also got a sun visor kit which I haven't installed yet. It is not the correct TR4 type but is for the TR 250 which is supposedly easily adapted. We will see!

Glad that the tank is going to work out for you.  Did you know that the later TR4 tanks did not have the overflow pipe?  Just thought that you might want to know as they seemed to feel that it was not needed after all.

Yes, the spire nut that you get from all of the suppliers is all that you will get.  The original retainers are no longer available that I have ever found.  Actually because I have parted out two cars, I was able to get a set for myself because the car I am driving did not have any left on it.  Those spire nuts that one gets are horrible to get off once put on and they scratch up the paint most often.  I  used silicone calking once to finish putting the letters on and it worked really well.

I don't know about Moss or Rimmer Bros but Roadster Factory does not have the TR4 sun visor.  They only furnish the 4A or 250 visor.
