It's me again. Thanks for your response to my earlier questions.
My '74 TR6 doesn't have overdrive and I can see why everyone wants it. The engine really winds out on the freeway, even at 60-65mph.
So my question is, how complicated and expensive is it to install or have installed?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

If you can  find an overdrive transmission it would not be hard to switch.  The big problem is finding the transmission.  There are a couple of alternatives to the overdrive however.  One of these is the Toyota 5 speed transmission conversion.  There is a second conversion that I have seen advertised but have no experience with.  As to the Toyota conversion I have put them in a TR3 and TR4 and have helped  with a TR6. It is all very easy and instructions and parts are all provided.  The supplier is Herman VandenAker.  You can reach him at handhvan@msn.com or 661-242-1253.  I can verify as to how easy these are to put in and how much quieter the Toyota transmission is than the Triumph.  And yes the rev's do go down a lot.
In fact right now I am converting my TR4 (  already with the Toyota tranny) to a rear end gear of 3.45.  This gets the revs down even further.  The only down side is pulling the steeper hills and having to shift gears more often.  But doing 75 mph in a TR3 at about 3000 rpm makes up for the gear shifting on hills.  I am guessing that just getting an overdrive or 5th gear will put you in a place where you want to be.

Craig I was just on the VTR ADS and noticed that there was a overdrive unit for sale.  If interesed in this option you might wishto chack it out.  I might add that the price is about 1/4 of the normal that I have seen them.

I am in the process of having a rebuilt J type OD put in my 1975 TR 6.  I bought it from Quantum Mechanics.  Cost with exchange with my old transmission is about 3K give or take.  Not sure how much it will cost to have it put in.  Dose anyone know the correct location of the OD badge for 1975 cars?  The Triumph badge is on the bumper not above the passenger rear light like on other models.
