I have been wanting to replace rear wheel bearings and am having a hard time getting hubs off, been told I need a special tool to do so, any other ideas?

I think you need the puller.  I have heard of people having luck using a BIG press, but also it can destory the axle.  Where are you?  Maybe someone local as the proper tool.

I am in east centrel Indiana, I did take them to a preformance shop and did get them pressed off, I wouldn't suggest that but in my case it worked. When they broke loose I think the building shook!
