Hello VTR folks--I'm new to this forum. I currently am restoring an AH Sprite--but I really love the TR3's. I wanted to know what is a reasonable price range on a TR3A needing some restoration--not a lifelong project car--solid body, frame  and minor rust, having say 90 % of all parts. Needing the usual--interior, paint and minor body work. Having a body-on-frame design makes them very restorable-and a bit easier to break down--well from a Rookies point of view !!

Any response would be appreciated--I live in the Phoenix Arizona area--I have seen a very wide range of pricing on cars needing major work--so I wanted to get an expert opinion from around the States.

This is something that is hard to keep up on.  If you watch various sources you can get an idea on a regular basis.  Try Craigs List, ebay motors and this VTR site to name a few.  I see that a fair condition car is now shown on manheimgold.com for $7,500 and up.  I  would think to find one in the $3,000 to 5,000 range would be  good luck.  You may find cheap ones out there, but they are likely in extremely poor condition. You can probably find a TR6 in driveable condition with little wrong with it for $6,000 and up. In other words the TR3 model has gone up over the last few years, while the TR6 is still more affordable.

Mike,

Charley is right regarding pricing and research. If you will put an auto-notifier reminder in eBay Motors for all things "TR3", you'll see cars pop up pretty regularly. The highest price I've seen is close to $25,000. There was a TR3A on the market recently that was very restorable but had no fenders. A pretty nice '57 TR3 just sold for slightly over $10,000.

Good Luck!

Hi Mike,
In your area there is a VTR Chapter, the Desert Center Triumph Register (DCTRA). They might be of assistance and if you go to the Chapters area of vtr.org you'll find a link to their site and their contact information.

Thank You Gentlemen for the info. You Guys are Great Grin  I have to see if a TR3 is an "Affordable Affliction". 7,500 is not bad to start out.

Take care,
