Greetings from the UK!

I am undertaking a Spit6 conversion and have got my hands on a really nice 2 litre lump which runs beautifully.

However, I am a bit confused by the engine number and I am begining to think it may be an ex-US spec block.

The engine number is KF2658C which would lead me to believe that this is an early Mk3 US-spec lump which was for the Californian market.

However, the head number is 218225 which I don't think would match to this engine unless it had been skimmed.

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance  Smiley

The KF prefix does indicate a Mk3 GT6 to US specification, but I've never seen a "C" suffix on an engine. Further, I'm not aware that there were serially numbered GT6 engines specifically for California, although there were for later Spitfire 1500 models.

Offhand, I can't help you on the head casting number question.

KF(8.0:1) 1998cc GT6 MkIII USA built with Cali emission stuff according to the block. Why do you say the head must have been skimmed to fit?
