Hi from France
In fact I have recently bought this car TS30265L and it is now in Normandy France. I try to reconstitue its history.
It was not so difficult to found the precedent owner because the plate California CGH 280 and the registration card help me and with the help of the travaler triumph sport car club of Sunnyvale I was able to find him. I have got email contact with him and he send me all the receips he had from 1980 to 2008
Well, now it is much difficult to reconstitue the period before 1980.
I have the name of the owner of this period, Cindy A JOHNSON of Palo Alto Ca, but how to do to contact her ? the serial number is it in your register ?
Thanks a lot for your help if you can it
Best regards.

Rene,

Congratulations on your recent purchase of a TR3. I can't help you with the previous owner but wanted to be sure you knew about the Heritage Motor Centre in England. With the body, engine and chassis number, they can tell you exactly when your car was built, the color and any options that were purchased. Here is the website: http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/index.html
Good luck!

Hi Rod

Thanks a lot for your answer. I have contacted the Heritage Motor Center and they confirm that they are able to buy me the technical profil of the TR but they cannot help me in the history of the precedent owners.
What I would like to find is the name of the import agent who bring the car in States on 1958, probably in Ca. There may be it would be possible to get informations about the first owner and then the others.
Excuse my poor english, I will try to be better
Best regards

If the car was first shipped to and sold in California, it likely would have been through what then was known as Cal Sales, Inc. Unfortunately, that company is long gone, and I doubt any records would still exist (unless some CA Triumph club and/or member somehow managed to get hold of them).

It is also likely that you will see Cal Sales mentioned on any build certificate. Again, this was one of several regional distributors around the US at the time; they, in turn, sent cars to individual dealers. So those distributors, even if they still exista and have records, would probably only be able to tell you to which new car dealer a given car was sent. Sad

Hi Andy and thanks a lot for your answer.
Well i see that it would be difficult to go more back in my research.
If i cannot search by the dealer and the first owners, it will be easier to begin by the last owners.
i have contact with the last one who gave me the name of the precedent, but i don't know wich way to find her ( cindy a johnson) ?
I will try and try Huh
Regards
René

As the last owner lived in Palo Alto, CA  might try contacting the Triumph Travelers Sports Car Club to see if they know of the person you are looking for.  You should be able to find an email address for the club here in the VTR  web site.
Good luck.

hi listers

well, i have got a contact with Robert Johson who gave me the email of Cindy, his daughter.
I have contacted her but unfortunaly she don't remember the color or the name of the precedent owner who sale this car to her in 1980.

So i think that my research will stop here ?

Thanks for all for your helps.
