I have a 69 GT6 mk2 with 58k miles.  The only place I find a comm. number is on a small plate welded(backwards) on the right frame outrigger, just under the batt box,# FC134497.  Not original engine #KC891 E.  I need to know if it is a Spit frame with a 6 cyl eng. and GT6 body.  It IS a Mk 2 body in good shape and the frame looks to have been restored.
The Roadster Factory in Pennsylvania was only alittle help.
I have MGB-GTs, TR-6s, and JaguarXJ-6 and knowledge to maintain and restore them.
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.   Thanks, BL Bratt.

Interesting. I'm working on a 1970 GT6+, and the frame number was on the opposite side outrigger (i.e. under the master cylinders, etc.). I believe it also is an FC number. GT6 and Spitfire chassis of that vintage are pretty much the same except for various details such as radiator mounts, rear "Rotoflex" suspension mounts and a few other minor items. I don't know as one could easily tell if it's an original GT6 chassis or a Spitfire chassis properly modified, especially if correct parts were used and the welding is of reasonable quality. (I say reasonable because while the factory usually did a good, solid job, the esthetics of the welding often weren't quite up to show standards, with weld spatter, etc.!)

Thanks for the info Andy.  I went over the car(gt6mk2) again and did not find any other numbers.  Do you know if the frame number is to be the same as the comm. number?  A very small aluminum plate rivited on the drivers(left) side windscreen pillar on the inside but I cannot see any numbers on it.
I see a couple more FC numbers on GT6s in the VTR regestry but not much info.
Very interesting car that runs well and is in very good condition.
I will get the title soon and have other information to help us on this quest.
I would like to also put an overdrive tranny in the GT6. A new paint job too.
I read my mail all day if you need to contact me.  Thanks again,  BL Bratt

See my reply to your post in the "All Things VTR" section. Do your best to read the number on the plate on the windshield post, as it WILL be the commission number.

[At least one can hope it is, since even the factory was known to be a bit dyslexic at times. See http://www.cwnicholls.com/Triumphs/GT6coll.html; read where it says 1970 GT6+ - green.  Grin ]
