I have a choice of two filler caps that I had in my parts box. Can anyone tell me which is "period correct" for a 1969 GT6 Mk2? (I hope the pics show - I am using a different host...  Shocked)

I have a preference but would rather go with the correct one.

The cap on the left looks to be the right one for a GT6. At least that's the one I always see on those cars (including mine !!). The cap on the right is similar to the one I have on my TR3A.

Hi,
The one on the right is pretty much like every one I've seen on most Spitfires, at least the earlier models.   Undecided

I'm not positive, but I think you'll find that the cap on the right -- pre-1970 models -- is "vented," while the cap on the left is a nonvented cap used in conjunction with the evaporative emissions systems on the later cars.

My 70 6+ has the one on the left, I am 90% sure it's original.

From all the pictures and information I have been given I am going to use the one on the right. I think that is the original one from the car.

Now I just have to figure out why a PO took off the plastic fan and put on an aluminum one. Ahhhh, the mysteries!

Thanks all!
