so far i have replaced or rebuilt every part of my engine that can come apart, the car will run but very poorly, i htink this might stem down from the distributor since it backfires and any adjustment to the distributor does almost nothing, please help im getting ready to sell this car if i cannot drive it soon, please any suggestions would help

Hopefully you have set your timing and set your valves correctly.  IF so, I would check for vacum leaks around the carb shafts and adjust fuel mixture settings.  I used the colortune tool to get the mixture set right at a blue tint.  good luck.

Sounds like timing to me also but you should check to make sure the carbs are in synch. If one is pulling harder than the other it will definitely make it run rough. Moss Motors has a great video on re-building the carbs and setting them up.
