Hello everyone,
My last post concerned a minor issue about wiper arm synchronization, which was not a problem really here in the desert.  My latest problems concern probable vapor lock and fuel delivery problems which are a big issue here in New Mexico where we have mid 90's to 105 on a consistent basis this time of year.  Lately, idling has been difficult and it has been impossible to get the carbs(ZS 165CDs) synchronized (the rear carb is pulling way more vacuum than the front).  I have checked the timing, valves, PCV, and spark and everything appears in order.  However, I cannot seem to get a decent fuel delivery at idle.  On the road at running speeds the engine is strong (running on all four) and not missing, but when in traffic or at a stop sign the car will  idle roughly and try to cut out.  I do not suspect a faulty (float because my  spark plugs are very clean and I don't smell fumes when the car stalls.  Instead, I am considering an electronic fuel pump to replace the aftermarket mechanical pump which does not appear able to fill the fuel filter installed immediately in front of the carbs).  If there is anyone out there that may have done this and has any advice I would really appreciate hearing from you.

well with egg on my face, i have subsequently determined that my problem associated with an apparent insufficient fuel supply at idle in hot weather was really poorly balanced carbs.  i have got that problem solved, but in the meantime, for those of you that read the forum, i installed the solid state electronic fuel pump available from mossmotors for about $80 and it failed after an hour.  i received the replacement from them and have just installed it in line ready to be connected should the manual fuel pump fail.  so far, the manual pump is delivering fuel to my zs 175's as needed, which means my clear fuel filter installed in the gas line just ahead of the carbs rarely is completely full of fuel.  the car is running great now that the carbs are balanced, even in the heat, so i guess that means the carbs determine the amount of gas in the fuel line?
