I bought a Smiths Jaeger speedometer on eBay for a back-up. It's a model 6307/11.  I asked the seller to verify that it was a model 6307 but I didn't give her the number after the slash.  None of my reference material makes any mention of the /11, only /04 for a 3.7:1(non-OD)differential.  Is there a speedo Guru out there that can help me. I'd put it in my (non-overdrive) 3 to see if it works but it needs $100.00 or so of work to be functional. Thanks in advance.....Frank Conklin

First off I am not a speedo guru.  But I did sleep at a Holiday Express last night.  Just kidding!!!  Here is what I found in TRA Restoration Guidelines.  Cars from TS 1 to TS8637 were fitted with #6307/04 for 3.7:1 cars no number given for overdrive cars. From TS8637 to TS10545 had # 6319/00 for non overdrive.  Then after TS10546 to the end of production they had #6319/06 for non overdrive and #6319/04 for overdrive cars.  I can verify that I have a #6319/06 in a TR3B.  I also own several speedometers that came out of TR4's and a 4A.  These were all 3.7:1  cars.  The numbers on these range from 6313/09, 6325/00 and 6325/02.
So no where have I found a ending digit of 11.  If you read the description of the early speedometers in the TRA Restoraton Guidelines ( available free in their web site) you will note the slight differences in the depth of the unit and the trip cancelling stub as well as a few other items.  So these other items may account for some of the reasons for multiple serial numbers, other than the rear axle ratios.

So I am not able to give you any direct help but it may provide something of benefit.

Good luck.
