Hello, I'm Joe Hinojosa, Falfurrias, Tx. and new to this board. Glad to be here. Had a '61 spitfire back in '70 and had a chance to buy this '64 so I did.I just started on this spifire I bought last year. Comm # is Fc41038.  I also have another for parts #FC61287. I'm trying to get my '64 running and I'm unsure of the carb on it.

Had this carb on the '64 triumph spitfire and all spitfires I've seen had dual SU's. Anyway, can't find info on this carb to try to rebuild. May be you can help. I see 'S1965'on a pad and maybe LA64 on another pad. No much!!! Looks VW to me???Thanks, Joe.

Joe,
Looks to me like you've got you a Herald setup there. I'm sure there is still parts for it through a Herald parts provider.

Right, Mitch! The carb is a Solex B30 PSE1, as fitted to most Herald 1200 models. This one is on the later "12/50" manifold, found on the later 1200s with an early Spitfire camshaft and 48-51 hp as opposed to the earlier 1200's 40 hp. Parts for the Solex aren't terribly difficult to come by.
