Looking for as close as possble period correct tires for my 1980 Spitfire.  original tires are Uni-Royal Rallye 280 155 SR 13 Radials.  Only thing I have come accross is the Vredestein Sprint + Blackwall sold through Universal Tire co.  Its close just not as close as the last two cars I see on the Spitfire model Victoris British catalogs I had recently recieved.  Anyone know who owns those two Spits?  I have the original tires to make the comparison just curious to see if anyone has taken this task beyond Coker or Universal?

Enjoy the Summer!

I'm not sure there's any point in "period correct" tires on a 1980 Spitfire unless your only goal is to score 400 points in a VTR Concours.  Wink There are still a fair number of 155R13 tires available, although not in any sort of "performance" tire. Same goes for the arguably better replacement size 175/70R13: a bit wider but about the same diameter as the 155.

Likely as not, the cheapest currently available tire nowadays is at least as good a performer as the best tire of nearly 30 years ago!
