Hi guys,

Just had occassion to purchase my first triumph on tuesday, a 66 tr4a. Needless to say it is going to need a great deal of work, but the frame is without rust so its a good start. Mechanically I was wondering what you guys would advise would be the most important things to do to heighten the degree of mechanical reliability.  Many thanks and what a fantastic website for the novice!

Welcome! Frankly, my experience over the years (a LOT of years!) is that proper maintenance is the key to reliability. To a lesser degree, regular use of the car also helps keep everything lubricated, limber, etc. And that's about it, beyond the hopefully obvious use of correct, quality parts in maintenance and repair and not "cutting corners"!
