so im new to this forum. im 17 years old and have been working on my 1954 Triumph tr2 long door (ts1056)and am just about done doing all the body work, all i have left is to fix this dent in the back and make up the cable operated internal bonnet locks that were fitted to the first 4228 Tr2. but i can't seem to get ahold of anyone that can give me the dimensions of these pieces, so if anyone knows where i can find these dimensions or can point me in the direction of some one who can help that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

Jack...Great to read that you have this project
coming along.
I would suggest you try emailing Bill Redinger.
He is the VTR vehicle consulant for the TR2/3/3a/3b.
You can email him: aredinger@juno.com
or phone is 402-496-2006.
I am not sure...but I think he may have a TR2.
Good luck,

Hi Jack:

Happy to hear that another Long Door will be joining the ranks.  There are two folk that can help with the restoration.  One is myself with TS981 the other is Jeff Kelly in Coldwater, Michigan.  Jeff has TS778 and is a twin to mine with its Ice Blue / Geranium scheme (as original).  Jeff can be found at jeffreykelly@charter.net  My TS981 was completed in 2003 while Jeff's was finished in 2005.  The twin lock on the bonnet for the early cars will teach you a new language if you don't already know it!

I would highly recommend that you obtain the restoration guide from TRA.

Seems like I have heard the TS1056 number before.  Where did you find it?

Jack:

For the TRA guide go to their web site www.triumphregister.com  Go to "news & events" on the front page.  Scroll down to the bottom of that page till "Download the TR2/3 TRA Judging..."  I bought my manual well before it was available on the web so I have no idea how long it will take.

I thought of a few more TR2LD aficionados, so if you need an answer don't hesitate to ask.  My only hope is that you intend to take it to an "as delivered" state because the car deserves it.

You didn't buy the double thermostat housing from me; the last one I heard sold for really silly money!  Welcome to the world wide search for "baby" Tenax snaps.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa127/jeepjack1995/bonnetrelease.jpg
now i already have the actual mechanism. what i need is the piece that it sits on thats welded to the inner fender. just the dimensions of that. Did that clear it up a little?

I just finished restoring ts2006. It was pretty much all original when I started. Let me know if you need help, I can send photos. jwilson@ebparks.org.
