To All,
One of the great things about the VTR National Conventions, aka, North American Triumph Challenge, is that it takes you to places that you would not normally go it.  Beverly and I have crossed the USA since 1989 attending most VTR Nationals.  During this time it's been a rewarding experience to visit parts of the country that we would not have visited if there was not a purpose to it. We have been looking for America.  This year we have a chance to visit Valley Forge PA.  Never been there, never done that and we are looking forward to the experience. We may be "counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike since we have all gone to look for America."  We will be" laughing on the bus." "Let us be lovers we will  merry our fortunes together." And his bow tie is really not a camera.
Cheers,
Darrell

I'll Second that!
So far, Susan and I have survived three trips across the breadbasket of this nation while the bread was actually cooking in the oven at 110 degrees F,  Shocked  although I would not recommend it if you have any health issues aggrivated by heat.
Going west from here the weather is MUCH better (like going to Triumphest)!! certainly later on in the year.

Let me say that the host club should have as much lattitude as they need in planning the month and days for the convention to avoid high heat times and that compliment their area's best climate.
But all in all, aside from the seemingly unadvoidable scandals and politics that I hope will not be present this year, we have always had great fun at the conventions.
This year we are planning a "where does this road go" route home (occasionally checking the GPS of course).

Our club is discussing plans for some spouse / significant other activities to compliment or suppliment any that may be in process by the host club.  For more information on things like "Ride the Stag", "Estrogena Diversions", etc, stop by the TSC USA table near the registration area and look for one of the signup lists.

Well we went "Looking for America" on our way out and back for Triumphest.
We have arrived back home after traveling 1940 miles round trip from Colorado to Triumphest in Laughlin Nevada.  The Stag performed flawlessly, carrying us in comfort, style, grace and performance to many spectacular places out and back including Wolf Creek Pass on the Continental Divide, Monument Valley, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Historic Route US 66. Say, how do you go from "85 to 35" in 24 hours??    Depart Laughlin Nevada travel through Las Vegas, and 24 hours later be crossing the Rocky Mountains at 10,600 feet - Vail Pass with a foot of snow on the surrounding mountain peaks!!  85 degrees F in Laughlin and Las Vegas, 35 degrees F at the top of Vail Pass on I-70.

Yep, we found some really nice parts of America this trip ...

Hey Glen,
Sorry but I just now had a chance to read your Triumpfest post.  Indeed sounds as if you discovered parts I have not seen yet.  Beverly and I were able to go looking last fall too as we traveled to Hersey, PA in the TR6 for the 6-PACK Trials in the 71 TR6. Beverly got to OD on Chocolate and I was able to tour the Harley Davidson Factory in York, PA. OK so I like Bikes too with a HD Dyna Low Rider and HD Soft Tail Night Train in the stable. Live to Ride whilst "Looking for America".  Grin

08 is shaping up to be a good year for me with the TRA National Meeting in Sandusky, OHIO, very close by(1 hour drive) and the VTR NATC in Michigan, what 4 hours max on back roads?  6-PACK is in Tenn, I believe, and the Six will drive the Tail Of the Dragon. But even that need only be a one day trip.  Undecided

Payback?  09!  VTR in CA!  Yikes, I plan on Looking for America a Bunch! Anyone else going?  Huh

Cheers,
Darrell
