has anyone thought of or done the following.
used metal panel adhesive to stick down a new floor
over exsisting one that is rusted. i'm thinking of doing just that
becuse it would save me from welding and with the new
adhesives out there i think it might work just fine
of course after i cut out the worst of the cancer. i'd be intersted

I talked to an instructor of 25 year experience at the local high school auto body shop about the use of glue.  He gets sent to all kind of up to date conferences on new auto body repair products and he said---USE THE GLUE.  It is great and do not forget to cut out all the rusty rotted metal and leave a half inch or so clean metal lip of metal for the pach panel to lap over.  He recommends using 3 M brand the kind with small glass beads in the glue.  Spread the glue liberaly on the metal lip and press panel into the glue but not too firmly so that you do not squeeze all the glue out---about 16th inch glue remain between panels and let the glue set up(doo its job)
There will be no rust underneath which might be there if welding panels were performed.  He sez that this is the way to go much better, cheeper, neater, stronger
easier.  Take your time and aligh everything and glue, glue, glue away.

Hi John,
Thanks for posting that information.
I learned to weld in a body repair class probably '65 or so. The metal that is exposed from the heat is prone to rust like this instructor says. And there is the warping and shrinking to deal with.
I like the idea of using glue.
