My 1969 Spit MK3 has been rewired so many times by the previous owners that nothing works, the color codes are all wrong, and the wires actually break when flexed.  The new replacement wiring harness costs a lot and was wondering where I can get a used replacement (at least for the rear) or a template to build one myself.

I've actually found a few on ebay that were reasonable in price. Of course you have to watch the year and what was included with the car when new. My 65 MK2 did not come with back up lights, emergency flashers, interior boot light etc. Have you checked at British Wiring? I got a quote from them a while back and it did not seem to bad considering everything that was included.

Good Luck!

Ebay isn't a bad place to look.. but what about the VTR?  Check the classifieds for anyone who might be parting a car, or put an ad up in the "parts wanted" category.

I've got a couple of odd wiring harness sections kicking around, although they'll be squaretail ('71 or newer)... don't know if they'd fit.  Probably adapt with a bit of wiring tracing and careful thought.

Get a copy of Automotive Electrical Handbook. Wiring is not as complicated as it looks and this book will help explain and rewire one circuit at a time if needed.  Much cheaper than a new harness.
