Does anybody know what the original cost  was of the hardtop option for the TR4 or 250?  This I am guessing would only include the back window and the hardtop, be it aluminum or steel.  These units are fetching a real premium  and I am curious as to the actual original cost.

Also posted in another section of the forum....

With hardtop put on the car at the factory, the price differential between that model and the convertible was $150 in 1963. That from an April 1963 US price list. No mention in that publication what it would have cost to order a hardtop "kit," but it does quote a price of $25 for the "Soft Top Kit (for Hard Top Model)"!

Thank you for the information. A couple of us have been wondering  what the units went for originally.  That is quite a difference from the $2,000 price tag they now  are getting.  Though I have seen some advertised for as high as $4,000.  But I would  guess they didn't sell at that price.

That unit went for $1932 U.S. dollars.  I would guess that it would have taken another $500 to ship it here to the USA.  So that gets it back into the value that they have been going for around here, which is $2000 and up. I have one that came on the car I bought.   It is an alumninum one and it was original to the car.
