After sitting six months, I get grinding gears when trying to engage transmission.  Clutch was fine before being stored.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Although I have not had this problem it does come up from time to time on different forums. The usual problem is rusted surfaces on the fly wheel and/or the pressure plate. The general fix is to put the gear box in 4th and slip the clutch a little to rub the rust off and polish the surfaces some.

The disc is lightly rusted to the flywheel or presur plate. Put the car in first or reverse, depress the clutch pedal, and start the car in gear. Blip the throttle if necessary, but the clutch will release after a short distance.
