I had similar issues with my car.  I fixed the problem by replacing all of the lightbulbs

Replacing bulbs can help. So can ensuring good clean contacts at the lamps and switches (possibly fuse box and fuses as well), including any and all ground connections.

My money is on a faulty ground.  Same thing happened this past Spring on my TR6 headlights.  I followed the ground wire, found that corrosion in a bullet connector was the culprit.

I had several lighting problems with my Spitfire when I bought it. One thing on mine - the brake lights only work with the ignition key turned on. Also if you have no turn signals at all check your fuses, turn switch and flasher. Another thing with Lucas lighting is the sockets are not the best - check them. Remember they called Lucas The Prince of Darkness.
Good luck!

One other thing. Not sure what year your working on but go to this website and you can probably print a wiring diagram (adobe format)
http://www.triumphspitfire.com/wiring.html
Take some highlighters and color the wires off each fuse a different color. Pretty easy to trace your problem that way.
Good luck,

As others have said, check the grounds. I had to add extra wires to the bulb receptacles in the rear to ground to fix similar issues. Also, check the fuse block. These are exposed and often there is poor contact with the fuses.  Use a cheap test light and verify the fuses on both ends, then check the light sockets one at a time to verify both + and ground.

Hope this helps!
