Hi Everyone,
I'll be checking out the forum from time to time.
Has anyone ever had a problem with the distributor not putting out spark only to find that you put the point wires on top of the nylon washer on the points post? How about having your rotor short out inside through a burn hole under the metal contact to the distributor post, which was not noticable till you tore apart the rotor?
Anyone have any weird problems and solutions to talk about?

There are lots of problems with the quality of distributor parts available for the old cars nowadays.  If you can get in posession of NOS Lucas rotors and disstributor caps, These problems just go away (until you find out that the distributor needs to be rebushed).

Hey Randy,

That brought back old memories, when I was in high school (1967) I had a 56 TR3 and the nylon washer trick took me almost a day to figure out... I swore back then if I could ever afford it I would have a new/restored TR3 as mine was a rough driver at best! When I restored my 58 in 1989 the best thing I did for it was use the electronic ignition. And now they have the Petronic (sic) that fits completely in the distributor cap. Anyway thanks for the memory jolt!
