Are there any numbers on the TR6 frame itself that denote which year it was made?

There are not any numbers on any of the frames of earlier TR's ( 2,3,4,etc).  So I am betting that there are none on the TR6 either.  The only way to determine the approximate year of the frame is to figure out any changes that were made by the factory during manufacture and decide from those  changes. 
If you have a best guess as to the year, you may want to post that information on this web and ask somebody what difference there might be between those few years.  I am suspecting that there are a few changes that were made over the time the TR6's were built.  I know that there are such changes on the TR4's.

OK so I have found a way to identify the frame year so long as it has the original steering rack attached to the frame. At the base of the rack there is a flat area that has the year of construction stamped into the aluminum. I have not found anything else yet other than a plate on the cross member under the engine that has a large D3 shown on it, but that is the same on the 1971 and 1972 frames that I have. Hope this helps

When it comes to parts you will find year of manufacture on a number of them.   This includes the dash instruments.  Look on the back of them to find the dates.
