T4 Silicone Valve Cover Gasket

(1/1)

Jim G:
Seems that Justin Wagner isn't planning to sell any more of these for a while. Maybe not again this year...
Does anyone know of another source/stockist? Or maybe have a spare they want to sell?

The Roadster Factory I just ordered one so i can't tell you if it's silicone or not.

BTW is there a torque setting for the valve cover bolts?

By valve cover bolts you could mean the nut that goes on top of the valve cover to hold it down.  This is 2 ft.lbs..  Yes it is only 2. As to the stud that goes into the head that the aforementioned nut goes on 12-14 ft.-lbs..

Justin is the only source of the silicone gaskets that he designed, with the special shape to stay in place and seal better.  The TRF gaskets may be rubber, but if so they are still the same shape as the original cork gaskets.

With Justin's gasket, IMO it's a good idea to use Nyloc nuts, which ISTR he supplies with the gasket along with special sealing washers.  Since the Nyloc nuts affect the torque reading, it's better to tighten slowly while watching the gasket, and stop when it starts to bulge.
