Hi Everyone,
Thanks in advance for help! I just acquired a 1980 Spitfire 1500. I love the looks of it and cant wait to drive it, but here is my problems.  The ignition and truck keys were lost by the previous owner.  Is there a way for someone to make a new set of keys based on VIN or model?  Is there an aftermarket solution.  I can rip out the present tumblers but I dont want to break anything that I'll have to fix later.  Smiley

Thanks again

Hi Carl-

My best guess is that you won't be able to replace your keys by VIN number. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

For your trunk, I think you can get a replacement tumbler and key set from pretty inexpensively from SpitBits.

As for the ignition...a little tougher. I would look for a used one. I would think that would be the least expensive way to go. I have an ignition lock that I think came from a '78 if you can't find anything else. The actual ignition contacts (the electrical piece on then end of the lock assembly)are broken, but the lock and tumbler are good and I have a key. You can have it for the price of shipping if you can't find anything else. Just let me know, and good luck!
