1954 TR-2

« on: December 01, 2010, 08:03:22 AM »

All

Thanks to Bill Lynn, the ultimate TR-2 guru, I have another source in addition to my Heritage Certificate.  You may recall the Heritage said my 54 TR2 interior was "pearl".  the Standard Register had more information as Bill said it might and stated the car came with Geranium leather.  Now to find complete new geranium leathers.

Question:  there is a section Other Specifications and Equipment and there are codes.  I have R  K  X  Nil  "O" and the only one I recognize is the "O" for my overdrive.  anyone have the listing of codes?  I did a site search and could not find them.

thanks....Marc

and another thanks to Bill as he continues to guide me in identifying what i should to to return my 54 back to where it should be when it was born around 4:30, 6/14/1954. Smiley

Hi Marc:
In regards to the hides, all three of the Geranium interiors that I am familiar with (Joe Richards's TS1, Jeff Kelley's TS778 and my TS981) all sourced the Geranium leather from a company named Bill Hirsch in Newark, New Jersey (800-828-2061).  I sent a sample piece of vinyl that was to be used on the dash and Hirsch dyed to match perfectly.  A hide is anywhere from 48 to 52 square feet and Larry Learn in Indiana, Pennsylvania estimated that he would need 48 feet.  Cost in early 2002 was $8.25 per foot.

All three cars listed above were shipped to Larry Learn's shop where Larry performed his magic using rolls of the Hersch leather.
