This is kind of a dumb question, but if the battery has been removed how
can you tell if the car is pos. or neg grounded. I don't think my TR3
has been converted, but I'm no sure and I don't want to cause any damage.
Thanks for the help, Don S. (TR3don)

Unless some polarity-sensitive equipment was installed (and done so properly) at one point -- think radios or electronic ignitions -- about the only way to tell would be to see how the battery cable ends fit on a battery. But even that's not as telling as it might be.

Assuming the car was completely functional before (and there is no polarity-sensitive radio, etc., connected), no harm can be done hooking it up either way. You'll know quickly enough if the polarity had been different from what it is now by how the ammeter reads.

With no polar sensitive items(radios, etc)the only differences will be the Amp gauge as previous stated, and your windshield whippers will run backwards. To convert to negative ground reverse the wires on the amp gauge and loosen the 4 screws on the whipper motor and turn the protruding whipper switch 180 degrees.

I guess if I hook up the battery and the radio works everything will be OK.
Thanks for the advice.
