It looks like this question hasn't been asked in a long time,
if at all. So I thought I'd try. I'm looking into replacing
my TR3A tires soon, and need some input as to sizes and possible
sources. The car currently has 185-70 SR 15's and they seem a bit
big. They're mounted on wire wheels, but I have a set of stock
discs which I'd rather use.
The question is... What larger size can I go to which will fit the
stock rims, and what may be the sources out there.
Any help you can through my way would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance, Don S. (TR3DON)  Huh

Don,
Check out the post by ranger_blackhat of August 1 2010 on the TR2-3 forum. Even though that post applied to a TR2 quite a few of the replies relate to the later cars. Ask again if you still have questions.

Don, I think that this has come up many times before.

My input is always the same:

1.  Don't forget your spare tire compartment!  (The largest spare tire that I can get in my compartment is a 155-15 (I have wire wheels.))

2.  When I got my car, it had 195-15s on it.  They filled up the wheel wells, but were no problem.  In fact, maybe even "one size larger" might fit.

3.  Many of my club members use Vredestein Classics.  We have a local dealer who gives us great discount prices:  the 165 (most popular size) is $95, and the 155 is $68.  I have 155-15 Spring Classics on my B (165s were on a boat on the Atlantic), and I LOVE them, both for performance and appearance.  I will stick with 165s when these wear out.

Good luck out there!
