Hey Guys,
I would like to take another shot at cooling down the GT6+.  I took it out for a run to a car show a week ago and it ran cool in the morning but heated up to a little over half in the afternoon when temps were in the low 70's.  This is the car I had in Texas for the VTR and on the rally my wife and ace navigater dang near had to strip due to the heat. Grin Then the GT ran at 3/4 with the temps @ 110+.  The GT is a new restoration and I know the radiator as been worked on but it was not recored. I did all the water wetter stuff so I am about to pull the rad out and try something new. Any suggestions? Has anyone fitted a MO JO aluminum radiator to a GT6? Would an electric fan be of much help?
Thanks,
Darrell

Hey Darrell,
Been a while since you posted this (I just discovered this forum) so you may have already solved the problem, but I have some info. I am here in Dallas and own a 69 GT6+. Last summer I had heating problems. I tested the thermostat and found it to be opening properly. I suspected my water pump but on inspection it seemed OK. Finally I just left the thermostat out. This was the cure. She cooled right down. I replaced the thermostat with a new unit and guess what?? Running hot again. So pulled it out. Seems that removing it improves flow considerably. My GT6 does not have an electric fan. My Spitfire has an electric fan and no engine driven fan. It cools very well in hot weather. The Spit is receiving a TR6 engine shortly and I will start with a GT6 radiator and the electric fan, with no engine driven fan. I'll let you know how it goes. Probably 2-3 more months on that project though.

Best,

Mike
